Vira
vira is commonly translated as “hero” (also eminent (man), brave, chief)
Texts such as the Niruttara Tantra distinguish between three bhavas (temperaments) – pashu (herdlike), vira (heroic) and divya (divine). These temperaments are sometimes related to the three Gunas:
- Pashu – Tamas
- Vira – Rajas
- Divya – Sattva
